RESILIENCE(S) & Island Correspondences
A few drops of happiness for an ocean of life.
An exhibition in 2 acts*
Act 1: RESILIENCE(S)
14 October > 29 November 2026
Life as it is: intimate, ordinary, shared. Living against all odds, choosing your values to move forward with greater serenity, and reconnecting with an ancestral art of living.
RESILIENCE(S) is a hymn to humanity, seen through the small lens of joyful, generous gestures in harmony with nature.
This final work concludes the photographic tetralogy ARCHÉOLOGIE DU PRÉSENT. After exploring the memory of stone and water (EMBARQUEMENT SFAX), light and lateen sails (CERCINAE), and the invisible foundations of the Berber world (BERBERITÉS), RESILIENCE(S) bears witness to an indestructible source of joy in southern Tunisia.
Reversing our gaze: rather than excavating lifeless ruins, photography here draws out the memory of the living.
Two exhibitions that foreshadowed or prepared this work are worth recalling, under the artistic direction of Pierre Gassin:
DEMAIN
For the inauguration of the Palais de la Photographie, Dar Kammoun, Sfax 2016
A group exhibition bringing together international and local professionals and young amateurs around the theme of the immediate future and everyday life.
VESTIGES & TRACES
SFAX, Capital of Arab Culture, Sfax Cathedral, December/March 2016
